Suppliers for multi-million pound wind farm projects sought
SUPPLIERS from the North-East are being invited to register their interest in bidding for contracts worth millions of pounds for goods and services for four regional wind farm projects.
County Durham-based Banks Renewables is holding an event next month inviting firms to Meet The Buyer next month, as part of its commitment to using a local supply chain as far as possible and practical on regional developments.
The event is the first of its kind in the reigon.
Banks has already secured planning approval for the Moor House and Lambs Hill wind farms, which will be located to the north east of Darlington and north west of Stockton, and estimates it will invest around £32.6m in developing the two schemes.
It is also progressing two further planning applications in the region, for the Windy Bank scheme in Teesdale and the Bank Field project to the north of Guisborough.
Available tenders include construction-related disciplines such as civil engineering, groundworks, materials supply, haulage, training, plant hire and logistics.
Contracts for less obvious aspects of the projects, including catering, fencing, accommodation and site security, will also be available to local suppliers.
As well as finding out more about the contracts, event attendees will be able to register their companies’ interest in being added to Banks’ recommended suppliers list.
One-to-one meetings with members of the Banks construction and procurement teams, and guidance on the detail of the tendering process will also be available.
Phil Dyke, development director at Banks Renewables, said: “We’re keen to find out as much as we can about as many North-East businesses as possible, so we can build an even more comprehensive picture of the local resources that are available and can therefore be in a position to move quickly when we reach different milestones with each scheme.”
The event takes place at the Hardwick Hall Hotel in Sedgefield between 8am and 4pm on Friday, November 9.
