AN insurance broker is offering parents a package to cover added childcare costs brought by the winter weather.
Towergate Insurance, from Stockton, has unveiled its schools closure insurance designed to protect parents who lose earnings when they have to stay off work to look after their children during school closures.
The package covers parents once a school is closed for more than one day because of snow, flooding or boiler failure, and parents will receive £100 a day for up to five days.
Paula Jones, managing director of Towergate, said: “The unpredictable weather conditions are causing more schools to close and this leaves many parents having to take time off work or arrange extra childcare at short notice.
“This will help them to stay ahead of the inevitable costs of unavoidable closures.”
