Optician invests £400,000 in North-East branch
A NATIONAL high street chain has spent £400,000 to expand one of its North-East stores.
Specsavers opticians in Stockton has undergone a major expansion in the largest refit invested in any of its branches nationwide.
The store, located in Castlegate Shopping Centre, was officially reopened by the town’s Mayor, Lynne Apedaile
As part of the refit, the store has added a hearing centre, three extra eye-testing rooms and an extra contact lens room. Along with the extra space, the store has recruited two additional staff, taking the total number of employees to 45.
David Rose, store director of Specsavers in Stockton, says: ‘Customers will benefit enormously from the refit and we are very proud to bring this investment to the store when many other stores in the town have had to close their doors.
‘We are also delighted to be able to now offer a hearing service to our customers. We have been in the Castlegate Shopping Centre for 22 years now and the expansion, along with the added staff members, just reaffirms our commitment to the community.’
