Moorland Energy granted licence extension for gas processing on North York Moors

AN energy company has been given more time to build a £50m gas processing plant in the North York Moors National Park.

Moorland Energy has received two years to carry out planning conditions on the Ryedale Gas Project, near Ebberston.

The company is expected to start processing gas in 2015 and could create up to 175 jobs.

Lawrie Erasmus, chief executive of Moorland Energy, said: “We will soon be appointing the main contractors for the infrastructure development, which will include the pipeline from the wellhead to the planned processing facility in Hurrell Lane, outside Thornton le Dale, North Yorkshire.”

The plans were approved last year by the Government after a three-week public inquiry.
