Velocity, in Sunderland, to provide pothole repair equipment across South America
A NORTH-EAST road maintenance company has found the route to success after landing a contract to repair potholes across Latin America.
Velocity, in Sunderland, will supply machines to Ecotech, in Mexico, to fix potholes on roads across 21 countries, including Brazil, Argentina, Chile, El Salvador and Uruguay.
The deal will create six-full time jobs, and the company will send 60 machines – capable of repairing 150 potholes a day – across the Atlantic during the next five years.
The contract comes after Velocity was taken over by Newcastle-based Reece Group, and follows a number of improvement programmes for highways authorities in Essex, Kent and Cheshire.
Dominic Gardner, Velocity managing director, said: “This is the biggest contract in our history by some margin, and Ecotech turned to us after searching the global market for a world-class road repair specialist.
“They have major road repair challenges right across South America, so our technology and services are going to be in extremely heavy demand.”
