BREWING UP: Family tea-makers Ringtons has posted its biggest revenue since the firm began more than 100 years ago.

Ringtons, which has a factory in Longbenton, Newcastle, said turnover hit £41m, with sales increasing by £7m in a year.

The results allowed the firm to take on more staff to add to its near 500-strong workforce.

Last year, Ringtons agreed a deal to ship about 250 containers of tea every year through The Port of Tyne, in South Shields,South Tyneside, for the first time in 50 years.

SPANISH RETREAT: The former owner of fallen electrical retailer Comet will start closing its loss making operations in Spain, where it has 43 stores and around 650 staff.

Darty, which is now focused on continental retail business, said improving its market position would tough in the difficult economic market.

Comet closed last year with the loss of more than 6,000 jobs.

CARRYING ON: Cash-and-carry chain Booker saw sales grow by 3.3 per cent to £4bn during the year to March 29.

The results were helped by underlying growth of 2.2 per cent over the final quarter of the period as non-tobacco sales improved by 4.2 per cent.

The figures do not include Booker's acquisition of Makro, which is expected to receive final clearance from the Competition Commission next month.

PIZZA RISE: Pizza delivery company Dominos said the freezing temperatures have given sales a boost after families stayed at home and avoided the cold weather.

The company said like-for-like sales had risen by 6.6 per cent in the 13 weeks up to March 31, with online orders increasing in the quarter, with 62 per cent made online.

However, the firm, which has 780 stores across the UK and Ireland, and hopes to open 60 franchised stores in 2013, said it was braced for tougher trading conditions.

FULL SWING: Golf retailer Direct Golf UK says it hopes to open more stores after securing a £3.5m funding package.

The firm, which has an outlet in Stockton, hopes to develop a state-of-the-art concept store in the North of England and move towards 30 stores in the UK.

The company had a turnover of £32m in 2012 and is headed by former golf pro Neil Bell.
