PROPERTY firm Smiths Gore said it will be able to offer a wider range of services following a merger with independent chartered surveyors Sale & Partners.

Established in 1927 by Colonel John Sale, Wooler-based Sale & Partners is today one of the leading firms of independent chartered surveyors in North Northumberland and the Scottish Borders. The firm provides a wide range of property services, including estate management, property sales and architectural & building services.

The two firms have united under the Smiths Gore brand and the Wooler office will be headed up by Michael Orde, who said: "This is an extremely complementary merger which enables us to build on our strong foundations in the region.

"We are delighted to have the opportunity to work with the staff and partners of Sale & Partners, and are looking forward to serving current and future clients of the combined firm in the provision of a complete range of rural property consultancy in the area.”

Richard Landale, senior partner of Sale & Partners, said: "Smiths Gore is a firm we have admired and worked closely alongside for many years, and this merger is a natural fit for the staff and partners of our Wooler office. We look forward to working with new colleagues in the merged business in North Northumberland.

"As we share similar values,  I know that not only will the merger provide seamless continuity of service to our client base, but it also has the added advantage of drawing upon the deeper resources of a national firm.”

Smiths Gore has offices in Darlington and York.
