A NORTH-EAST insulation firm has sealed a contract to carry out energy improvements on more than 10,000 North-East homes.

Cosyseal Insulation, based in Thornaby, near Stockton, is working with The Gateshead Housing Company to fit energy saving equipment.

Jamie Scott Robson, Cosyseal’s national business development manager, said: “The value of this contract is probably the largest current project for both organisations in 2014.

“It follows a similarly successful scheme for the company in the same area with Home Housing Group in 2013.

“Loft and cavity wall insulation are part of the Government’s eco project, which aims to improve energy efficiency in homes and ultimately create a more comfortable lifestyle, as well as reducing excessive energy costs.

“This is a long-term programme that will cover until 2015.”

Alan Sandey, from The Gateshead Housing Company, added: “Our householders and leaseholders are our priority and we continue to look at a number of energy saving measures to make their homes more economic and comfortable.”

Cosyseal Insulation is a division of the Cosyseal Group, which includes Cosy Clad and heating branch Cosy Warm.

Last year, the group, which sponsors Darlington Football Club's shirts, revealed a £38m deal to fit external wall insulation and brick cladding to properties in Watford, Hertfordshire.

The company, which moved to Teesside from Darlington in 1997, also previously revealed an £18m contract to fit insulation to about 2,000 former Army and council homes in Richmond, North Yorkshire.
