Castle Building Services, in Hebburn, secures £6m contract
A NORTH-EAST building services contractor has secured its largest contract after winning work on a £29m development.
Castle Building Services will carry out £6m mechanical and electrical installation work on Glasgow's 12-storey St Vincent’s Plaza.
The building includes 170,000sq ft office space and Castle has was appointed by Bowmer and Kirkland, which has offices in Houghton-le-Spring, Wearside.
Castle, based in Hebburn, South Tyneside, will start on the project in June and expects to finish next year.
It will use 3D modelling to ensure the co-ordination of building services work is correct.
David Harland, Castle director, said: “We are delighted Bowmer and Kirkland has appointed us on such a key development.
“Having worked with them on other large office fit-outs for clients such as Npower, in Rainton Bridge, we were able to provide them with the certainty and confidence they needed to ensure the job will be done right first time.
The contract comes after Castle last year revealed it had secured a place on the project to transform Newcastle's Central Station.
It has also carried out a refurbishment of the Radisson Blu Hotel, at Manchester Airport, and worked on offices for PruHealth, in Stockport.
Mr Harland added: “Last year we enjoyed year-on-year growth of 25 per cent.
“By focusing on securing more projects and investing in recruiting high-calibre workers, we're confident this growth will continue throughout 2014.”
