A CONSTRUCTION firm has secured a contract to work on a £20m university development.

Bam will build a new teaching centre at Teesside University, in Middlesbrough.

Bosses say work will start in April.

Mark Sanderson, Bam's project manager, said the company was delighted to have secured the deal.

He said: “It's not often you get to make such an impact on a university campus and creating this flagship building for Teesside will be a huge highlight in many of our careers.

“We are looking forward to working with local companies and students to ensure the project benefits Middlesbrough’s economy and environment during construction as well as when it’s complete.”

Malcolm Page, Teesside University's chief operating officer, added: “This is a fantastic development for the university and represents a significant investment for students, the community and for Middlesbrough and the region.”
