AMEC, the international engineering and project management company, is holding three days of trades testing in Darlington as part of its recruitment drive for offshore oil and gas employees to work on major projects in the North Sea throughout 2014 and into 2015.

The flagship projects include GDF Suez E&P UK’s Cygnus In the North Sea and BP’s Clair Ridge west of Shetland.

The tests will take place from July 7 to July 9 and will include both a specific trade assessment and a health and safety based assessment. Both of these elements must be passed for the candidate to be engaged and deployed on offshore projects by Amec.

Testing will cover various disciplines including electrical, instrument, rigging, mechanical, piping, plating, welding and construction.

In total, Amec expects to invite in the region of 500 skilled and experience offshore trade operatives to testing sessions held over the course of the three days.
