AN engineering consultancy is celebrating ten years of success this month, following recent contract success.

Parsec Consulting Engineers, in Darlington established its mechanical and electrical design consultancy in 2004 and has since serviced clients in the building services, renewable energy and sustainability sectors.

It’s one of few consultancies in the UK to have the highest industry accreditations for carbon and energy calculations in domestic and commercial settings.

“Over the past decade we’ve experience our fair share of excitement and trepidation. Like many other regional businesses, we had to endure the effects of the recession, but our quality of work and vision has seen us grow substantially year-on-year,” said Shaun Ackerley, managing director of the Grange Road firm..

“Our tenth anniversary has been marked by winning a new contract at the Darlington Mechanics Institute in Skinnergate. The premises is currently being refurbished as a restaurant and nightclub destination, and we have been commissioned to design the building’s mechanical and electrical systems.”

To assist with the project, the engineering firm has invested in the latest Building Information Modeling (BIM) software, which allows its engineers to coordinate complex projects more efficiently and reduce the overall energy consumption of a building.

“It’s this kind of capability that has helped us attract major work from across the UK and bring it to Darlington. Celebrating our tenth year in business is a remarkable achievement, hopefully we’ll be able to say the same ten years from now!”

During the past decade the consultancy has carried out design work on a wide range of private and public sector clients, including the NHS, The National Trust and Middlesbrough FC.
