A CRICKET club is working with a training provider to get young people into work.
Durham County Cricket club has revealed a partnership with Profound Services, in Peterlee, east Durham to give five people better employability skills.
Club bosses have developed the Leading Edge programme, aimed at 16 to 23-year-olds.
The traineeship will see the successful people gain experience across various areas in the cricket club.
The programme will last for eight weeks, with additional maths and English training also available from Profound.
David Harker, Durham County Cricket Club chief executive, said: "We have all heard about the number of young people struggling to get into work across the country.
“Though it’s an improving picture, this is in no small part thanks to training providers and businesses working in partnership to create the right opportunities, at the right level, to give people their first step on the career ladder.
“We do a great deal of community work, so launching Leading Edge is just another way we can do our bit.
“The range and scope of jobs at the club is so varied, so the young people on this programme will get to grips with a range of different roles.”
