BUSINESS people across the North-East are being urged to snap up tables to a James Bond-style charity ball, which will help raise funds for a hospice’s new minibus.

St Benedict’s Hospice, in Ryhope, Sunderland, is holding its Diamonds and Dinner Jackets ball at Ramside Hall Hotel, Durham, on September 26, as it celebrates its 30th anniversary and raises funds for a minibus for those living with life limiting illnesses and their families.

The ball will feature a four course gala dinner, dancing to Q The Music, a James Bond tribute band, a Casino Royale corner, the chance to pose for pictures with 7ft 3 ins ‘Jaws’ impersonator Gary Tiplady and a silent auction, where guests can bid for lots from their tables use tablets.

Celebrities ranging from rock legend Sir Elton John to Hollywood star Keira Knightley are backing the ball and have sent a raft of goodies as prizes.

Derek Moss, chairman of St Benedict’s Hospice Board of Trustees, said: “We wanted to organise a really special event for our 30th anniversary and it will be a brilliant evening to bring clients and friends to."
