NORTH-EAST businesses are invited to take advantage of opportunities in India.

The ERDF-funded NECC Access Programme offers companies the chance to visit Bangalore and New Delhi, with a grant of £1,000 available.

Access India has been working with the UK India Business Council to devise a programme featuring organised meetings, networking events and company visits, alongside briefings, workshops and seminars.

Nynzi Maung, Access Programme leader, said: “Although local companies unfamiliar with India might regard Mumbai as the obvious first point of call, they should not ignore other regional capitals.

“The commercial opportunities are considerable and competition from other international companies weaker.

“There is a natural fit between the North-East and Indian economies with our region’s companies offering goods, technology, services and expertise in areas India has identified as critical for rapid economic development.

“The £1,000 will go a considerable way towards enabling companies to participate in this unique, business support package and I would urge any business looking at India as a potential market to sign up.”

The visit takes place between Monday October 6 and Saturday October 11.
