A FAMILY-RUN sausage company has secured major supermarket deals after help from a TV business expert.

Heck, near Bedale, North Yorkshire, worked with Alex Polizzi on the BBC2 show The Fixer.

The company, run by the Keeble family, sought her help to get into the UK’s largest stores, and says it has now struck deals with Waitrose, Morrisons, Asda and Booths.

The Keebles brought in Ms Polizzi to support the company’s expansion, and the episode follows them as they cover everything from recipes and seasoning to pitching to supermarkets.

Debbie Keeble said: “Our time with Alex was really hard work and a real eye opener.

“We’ve been in the pig farming and sausage business for more than 25 years, but we still all learned an amazing amount from the experience.

“It has given us a real sense of pride in what we’re doing and the confidence to work with our children to take our business to the next level.”

The Keebles expect the firm, which employs more than 20 workers and also has an agreement with Tesco, to hit £5m turnover in 2014 and £7m in 2015.

Opened last year by Debbie, husband Andrew and three of their children, Jamie, Roddy and Ellie, Heck makes more than 200 sausages every minute.

The venture is the couple’s second in the industry after they sold Debbie and Andrew’s Sausage Company to food maker J and J Tranfield in 2005.

The Fixer will be shown on Monday, September 8, at 9pm.
