A PORT operator has opened a new warehouse for the firm behind Yorkshire Tea.

PD Ports says it has moved work for Taylors of Harrogate from warehouses at Teesport to a 105,000sq ft site in Billingham, near Stockton.

Bosses say the £2.5m investment will help continue to support more than 80 jobs at Billingham.

Last year, PD ports revealed it had signed a new ten-year deal with the tea and coffee maker.

The tea firm started importing goods into Teesport about six years ago.

David Robinson, PD Ports' group chief executive, said: “Taylors of Harrogate’s continued commitment to using Teesport highlights the growing significance of Teesside as a major centre for logistics.”
