THE Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) North East has welcomed 11 new Fellows among its members.

Fellowship is the highest grade of membership of the Institution. It may be awarded to people who are, or have been, engaged in a position of responsibility in the promotion, planning, design, construction, maintenance or management of important engineering work.

The new North East Fellows are: Stephanie Glendenning (Newcastle University), George Hare (MWH), Douglas Kell (Civil Engineering Contractors Association), Richard McGuckin (Stockton on Tees Borough Council), Sarah Melville Crowe (Jacobs), Stephen Pugmire (Royal HaskoningDHV), Brian Reeve (Port of Tyne Authority), Stephen Thomas (OGI Groundwater Specialists Ltd), Barry Walmsley (Teesside University), Kevin Walmsley (Parsons Brinckerhoff Ltd) and Brian Wilson (Nexus).

ICE is a professional qualification body, which offers guidance, support and information to members from a wide range of backgrounds, who work in many diverse areas of industry and academia across the world.

Penny Marshall, the director of ICE North-East, said: “It is fantastic to see the quality and quantity of individuals who are becoming not only Fellows, but joining ICE at the various levels of membership offered by the Institution.
