A TRANSPORT and production firm has enhanced its reputation after helping set the scene for a major North-East music event.
Wicked, in Darlington, worked on the BBC Radio 6 Music Festival.
The company removed seating and installed a temporary floor at The Sage, in Gateshead, to provide space for acts to perform.
The event included The Maccabees, The Charlatans, and Neneh Cherry, as well as Maximo Park, which are headed by Billingham-born frontman Paul Smith.
Wicked operates from a unit in Darlington’s Blackett Road and is well-known across the entertainment sector, having helped put on theatre productions, concerts, festivals, exhibitions and conferences.
It has worked with the London Palladium, Darlington’s Civic Theatre, the Sunderland Empire and Aberdeen Music Hall, and carried out projects at Durham Cathedral, the Metro Radio Arena and Stockton’s Riverside.
The firm was also shortlisted in the favourite transport company category at Total Production International’s TPI Awards earlier this month.
Rebecca McGarvie, Wicked’s business manager, said its successes were delivering rewards.
She added: “Despite not being successful at the awards, we turned a few heads and the response has been fantastic.
“Many people are asking who we are and are surprised we have entertainment companies in the North East.
“We spent a week in the West End meeting with producers and discussing more than 15 shows, which will tour in the next year.”
