BUTCHER Dicksons has extended a contract with supermarket company Asda, safeguarding many of the 250 jobs in the company's workforce.
South Shields-based Dicksons is extending its contract to supply sausages to several Asda stores - a deal agreed six months ago - to include pastry products and regional produce such as saveloys.
The supermarket has also added Stanley and South Shields stores to the original list of Boldon, Sunderland, Gosforth, Gateshead MetroCentre and Washington.
The move sees the South Tyneside company strengthen its presence in the region and helps to safeguard jobs within its 250-strong workforce.
Managing director Michael Dickson said: "We have invested heavily in our purpose-built factory and this type of opportunity helps to justify that commitment."
