A COMMERCIAL property company has won a contract to provide services across the Tyne and Wear Metro system’s network of 60 stations.

Lambert Smith Hampton has been awarded the estate management contract on behalf of DB Regio Tyne and Wear, a subsidiary of German state rail firm Deutsche Bahn.

The contract will run for two-and-a-half years, with a potential two-year extension, and covers associated depot buildings spanning Newcastle, Sunderland and the surrounding areas, as well as stations.

DB Regio formally took over responsibility for operating Metro trains and managing stations on behalf of Nexus in April last year.
