A BUILDING firm has won the first contract under a council’s new building framework for a £500,000, four-month scheme to renovate a primary school.

Chester-le-Street -based Northern Construction Solutions (NCS), which has delivered more than 50 makeovers to schools and children’s centre, has secured a place on Newcastle City Council’s new general building maintenance framework.

The firm has worked on a previous framework for the authority for the past four years.

The new contract will see Hotspur Primary School, in Heaton, Newcastle, altered and extended.

Sean Anderson, a director at NCS, said: “We invest a great deal of time in both our clients and the construction process to ensure everyone is happy and it’s great that we’ve been recognised for those qualities.

“It’s testament to our growing reputation within the education field.

“This is also a real boost for our workforce in these trying economic times and we look forward to continuing our working relationship with Newcastle City Council.”

Malcolm Aitchison, principal technical project manager for Newcastle City Council, said: “NCS has consistently delivered a high-quality service on a range of projects and worked in a collaborative way with other delivery partners to ensure that challenging targets were met.”
