BUSINESS services firm PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) is expanding its Newcastle office with the appointment of seven staff to form its Smart Services team.

The team is a new initiative, made up of part-qualified accountants recruited from the North-East, who will support the firm's assurance business.

Part of Smart Services' role will be to assist the firm in reviewing accounts. Over time it will broaden its scope to support other areas within the assurance practice.

Paul Woolston, senior partner at PwC Newcastle, said the new team was great news for the office.
