PEOPLE in Consett have the chance to get involved in shaping its future development.
A consultation event is being held on February 11, to display some of the initial ideas for the town and to allow people to contribute their own views and suggestions.
Durham County Council is working with a team of regeneration specialists on a new masterplan, which will look at development and improvement opportunities in the town centre and surrounding areas.
Work is in its early stages and, before any final recommendations are made, the council says it wants everyone with an interest in Consett to have the chance to put forward their views.
Views are being sought on issues including parking, transport links, improving the look of the town centre, how the variety and quality of shops can be improved and how to make the most of the town’s heritage.
The consultation event will take place at Consett Library, in Victoria Road, on Thursday, February 11, between noon and 8pm. People can call in at any time on that day to meet members of the team working on the development.
