A DELIGHTED war veteran has been presented with a new commemorative badge after his previous one went missing.
Ron Bell, 91, above, of Darlington, believes his previous veterans’ badge was stolen from the lapel of his jacket.
He asked Darlington MP Alan Milburn if he could help him to get another badge.
Last week Mr Milburn arrived at Mr Bell’s home in George Short Close, to present him with the replacement.
Mr Bell served in the maintenance unit of the RAF throughout the war, repairing planes in both England and Canada.
After thanking Mr Milburn, he said: “I was pleased to get it back, I like to wear it when I go out. I’ll try not to lose this one.”
Mr Milburn said: “We must never forget the brave actions of men like Ron who served for more than six years in the RAF.”
