Singer wins top prize
SINGER Richard Docherty,
of Urpeth Grange,
Chester-le-Street, above,
has won the Exposure
Award at the Grand
National Final of Live and
Unsigned.
From more than 10,000
applicants, he battled
through to the finals to earn
the top music title.
Mr Docherty started playing
the guitar when he was nine
years old. He is the lead
singer of the band Minnikin.
His prize is a day in a
professional recording
studio in London to record
his songs and hopefully an
album in the near future.
The final was held in Fairfield
Halls, Croydon, London.
