DR Jonathan Ben-Dov, from Haifa University, Israel, will give a public lecture exploring the contribution of Ancient Near Eastern civilisation to the construction of time in room 140 of Durham University’s Elvet Riverside building, on New Elvet, Durham, on Wednesday (February 13) at 6.15pm. Entry is free and open to all.
DRIVER HURT: A Hyundai driver was taken to hospital after the vehicle collided with a van on Tail-Upon-End Lane, in Bowburn, County Durham, shortly before 9am today (Wednesday, February 6). The driver’s injuries are not thought to be life-threatening. No other details were available. The road was re-opened at about 10.20am.
HUGE TOTAL: Richard Langdon, a Durham lawyer, has raised more than £15,000 for St Cuthbert’s Hospice, in Durham City, by climbing Mount Kilimanjaro. Mr Langdon climbed Africa’s highest peak with Graham Duncan and David Hardy in October. To donate, call Laura Barker at the hospice on 0191-386-1170.
