A DURHAM City rower is looking forward to Olympic action in China.

Jess Eddie, 23, is part of the women's eight crew now in Germany for a three-week training camp before going to Beijing for the Games next month.

Ms Eddie, a former pupil of St Leonard's Comprehensive, who started rowing at eight and learned with the Durham Amateur Rowing Club, now lives in London.

She was part of the squad that took a gold and two bronze medals in the World Championships last year.

Ms Eddie, whose parents Nora and Stewart and twin sister Alex will fly out to watch her in action in China, said: "I can't wait. It is going to be the most amazing games."
