THE third animated Ice Age blockbuster features all the familiar characters and puts them in an unfamiliar setting.

On a mission to rescue Sid the sloth, they’re plunged into the land of the dinosaurs. This gives the makers plenty of opportunities for fish-out-ofwater – or should that be mammoth-out-of-water? – comedy.

Manny and Ellie are awaiting the birth of their mini-mammoth, Diego the sabre-toothed tiger wonders if he’s going soft, and Sid the sloth creates his own family after finding some dinosaur eggs.

The creature some of us consider the real star of the show – the nut-hunting squirrel/rat Scrat – gets more screen time too as befits his star status.

He also gets a rival and romantic interest all rolled into one seductive ball called Scratte. Let the battle of the nuts begin.

As befits the third in the series, some cinemas will be showing Ice Age 3 in 3D.
