A COMMUNITY group that holds events in Ferryhill has been handed a donation to keep up its work.
The Ferryhill 2000 Committee received a donation of £120 towards running costs for its main event, the town's annual summer gala.
It came from the Ferryhill Six- Ferryhill Town Councillors Zena Roddam and Doreen Barber along with Joyce Nunn, Ann Dawbney, Enid Ridley and Audrey Garnett- who support good causes with fundraising activities such as plant sales.
Chairman of the 2000 Committee, Rev Keith Lumsdon, praised the ladies for their efforts over the years and thanked them for the money.
The 2000 Committee is a self funding organisation made up of town councillors and residents and more volunteers are needed.
Anyone interested can attend one of its meetings at Ferryhill Town Hall, on every third Wednesday of the month at 6.15pm.
