Celebrity chefs back schoolboy's fundraiser
5:09pm Monday 29th October 2012 in News
CELEBRITY chefs including Jamie Oliver and Delia Smith are supporting a schoolboy’s charity fundraising event.
Roscoe Savage, 13, will hold a festive cookery demonstration and a silent auction of celebrity cookbooks to raise money for the Multiple Sclerosis (MS) Society.
As well as being given books by former Michelin star chef Andrew Pern, of the Star Inn at Harome, near Helmsley, whose mother suffers from MS, Roscoe has received signed cookery books from chefs including Jamie Oliver, Albert Roux, Delia Smith and Rosemary Shrager.
The Ripon Grammar School pupil, whose cousin suffers from MS, is having a stall at his school’s Christmas Market, in the school hall, on November 17, from 4pm to 7pm, when people will be able to place bids for the books.
Roscoe, who assists chef Gilly Robinson, of Swinton Park’s Cookery School, near Masham, on catering workshops, will hold a festive cookery demonstration in Galphay Village Hall, near Ripon, on November 29, at 7.30pm.
The pair will be making two desserts, along with festive vegetable dishes.
Roscoe said: “I have been amazed by the number of famous chefs who are supporting our fundraising. The books are fantastic and would make great Christmas presents.”
