Plans for re-development of Spennymoor old people's home on show
PLANS to demolish a sheltered housing scheme by livin to make way for affordable bungalows are to go on show to residents.
Housing provider livin wants to demolish Grayson Grange, Middlestone Moor, Spennymoor, as part of a major overhaul of its properties.
The scheme is part of a £5.4m upgrade of 13 livin properties in south Durham taking place between now and 2024, which will affect 223 residents.
The Grayson Grange plan will see the old sheltered housing scheme demolished to make way for 12 two bedroomed affordable bungalows.
livin is holding a consultation exercise for locals and groups to view the plans and to pass comments on the proposals.
Ian Brown, head of development and allocations for livin, said: “The existing sheltered housing scheme does not meet modern standards and is underused at the moment.
“Our plans are to create homes for affordable rent that are vibrant and sustainable.
“We want to work as closely as possible with local residents to make sure they have a real stake in the future and that they are given the opportunity to contribute.”
The proposals will be on show at Grayson Grange tomorrow (Nov 1) between2pm and 6pm with details from contact Clare Johnson on 01642-261107.
