A NEW Green Party branch has been established in the region.
Durham Greens, a new branch of the Green Party for County Durham, was formed at a meeting in Durham City on Thursday, November 1.
Party leaders say they hope to field candidates across the county in next May’s Durham County Council elections.
Co-ordinator Gerry Aiken said: “Durham Greens can provide an end to the politics of the ConDem coalition and New Labour.
“We want to provide a fair and sustainable future for County Durham, with the Green New Deal prioritising jobs for all as a route to a clean and sustainable environment.”
The group’s next meeting will be downstairs in the Swan and Three Cygnets pub, off Elvet Bridge, Durham, on Thursday, December 6, at 8pm. For more information, call 07882-514803 or email: durhamgreenparty@gmail.com
