FARMERS FIREWORKS: The Weardale Young Farmers will hold a bonfire and fireworks display at White house Caravan Site in Eastgate at 7pm on Friday. (NOV 9) Parking is free and entry to the display will cost £1 on the gate. Hot food and drinks will be available.

JAZZ GROUP: Gypsy-jazz outfit Djangologie will perform at the St Cuthbert’s Centre in Crook on Friday. (NOV 9) Tickets cost £5 and the gig starts at 7.30pm. The band have just released their second album.

SOCIETY SUPPER: The Weardale Society has organised a buffet supper with entertainment from John and Leslie Anderson starting at 7.30pm at St Thomas’ Church Hall in Stanhope on Thursday. (NOV 8) Entry costs £4.

SUDAN COFFEE: A coffee morning will be held at St Thomas’ Church Hall in Stanhope on Saturday from 10am to 12.30pm in aid of starving mothers and children in the Sudan. There will also be stalls, entry costs £1 to include coffee and biscuits.

ENTERTAINMENT NIGHT: The Tearaways, Centre Stage and Cats Youth theatres will join forces on Friday November 16, to put on a show to raise money for Children In Need. The show featuring singing, dancing and comedy will start at 7.30pm at the Civic hall in Shildon. Tickets costing £2-50 can be bought from 01388-774838.

ORGAN CONCERT: Organist Janet Dowsett will play the Mighty Wurlitzer Theatre Organ at The New Victoria Centre in Howden-le-Wear at 7pm on Saturday and 2.30pm on Sunday, November 17 and 18. Tickets cost £6 from David Kirkbride on 01388-762467.

MINING TALK: Ian Forbes will give a talk called The Blacketts and Beaumonts, eight generations of lead mine owners, to the Weardale Field Study Society at the Durham Dales Centre in Stanhope at 7.30pm on Monday, November 19. All are welcome.

ART FESTIVAL: Wolsingham School and Community College will host the Weardale Creative Arts Festival on Thursday, November 22, at 6.30pm. The festival will feature music, dance and drama and tickets costing £2.50 for adults and £1.50 concessions are available from the school office on 01388-527302.
