A MAN has died after suffering serious injuries in a crash on a busy North-East road.
Michael John Fell, of Toft Hill, near Bishop Auckland, was driving along the A68 at Etherley Bank, close to his home when he collided with a van at about 5.15pm on Wednesday (November 7) evening.
The 29-year-old, who worked as a barman in Bishop Auckland, was in a black Renault Clio heading south towards West Auckland, when for an unknown reason it crossed over into the opposite carriageway.
It collided with a white Mercedes Sprinter van.
A former pupil of Toft Hill Primary School and St John’s School, Bishop Auckland, Mr Fell suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The 55-year-old male van driver, from Rotherham, South Yorkshire, was taking to Darlington Memorial Hospital with internal injuries described as “serious but not life threatening.”
Witnesses to the incident are asked to call Durham Police on 101.
