Is this really democracy? you have the chance to vote but we are not going to make it easy for you to find out what, or who, you are voting for, nor tell you what difference it's going to make. Nor are we going to provide any funds to allow the independent candidates to make a stand.
Result - people in Labour areas vote Labour out of habit, ditto |Conservative areas, nothing really changes and the government scratch their heads wondering why.
Get a grip - maybe to change things we need to do something else!!!!! or is the status quo the aim?
2:46pm
Tory candidate Julia Mulligan polled 47,885 votes to 34,328 votes for Labour's Ruth Potter. #pcc elections http://t.co/kWA6Ufya

Newly elected commissioner for Durham Constabulary, Ron Hogg, blames poor publicity and a November election for the low turnout.
He said: "He found real anger on the doorstep and there is a real challenge for political parties to re-engage with their communities."
Durham Chief Constable Mike Barton said: "Ron Hogg is absolutely a man I can do business with."
2:32pm
Newly-elected commissioner, Barry Coppinger, has rejected the idea that turnout was not high enough for him to have a legitimate mandate.
He said: "I got the majority in all four areas in first and second preference votes and I'll work to raise the profile of the role in the coming years. We would have of course preferred more people to vote but it's not our fault. The idea from Whitehall was under-developed under-scoped and ill thought through."
Asked if given Cleveland Police's difficulties with the ongoing corruption scandal the role was a poisoned chalice, Mr Coppinger said: "No, this is no poisoned chalice. There are difficulties, no doubt about that but Cleveland Police still has a very good record on dealing with crime."

PCC for DURHAM
Ron Hogg an ex CC of Cleveland Police under the Labour banner
PCC for NORTHUMBRIA
Vera Baird, exLabour MP booted out of Redcar, abuser of expenses and ignorer of dog poo.
PCC for CLEVELAND
Barry Coppinger, Labour Councillor on 2 Councils, Police Authority member and friend of the disgraced PA Chairman Davie McLuckie
One thing in common … they all had something to do with the most disgraced fraudulent and corrupt Police Force and its Authority in the UK … only in the North East of England would so many people treat losers, bullies and abusers as though the were winners, when clearly they are not … a case of getting what you asked for !

Good to see Co. Durham UKIP candidate get so many votes. Hope this is replicated at the proportional representation euro elections as it seem the Lid-Dem vote has collapsed.
