Is this really democracy? you have the chance to vote but we are not going to make it easy for you to find out what, or who, you are voting for, nor tell you what difference it's going to make. Nor are we going to provide any funds to allow the independent candidates to make a stand.

Result - people in Labour areas vote Labour out of habit, ditto |Conservative areas, nothing really changes and the government scratch their heads wondering why.

Get a grip - maybe to change things we need to do something else!!!!! or is the status quo the aim?

You vote for what you get …

PCC for DURHAM
Ron Hogg an ex CC of Cleveland Police under the Labour banner

PCC for NORTHUMBRIA
Vera Baird, exLabour MP booted out of Redcar, abuser of expenses and ignorer of dog poo.

PCC for CLEVELAND
Barry Coppinger, Labour Councillor on 2 Councils, Police Authority member and friend of the disgraced PA Chairman Davie McLuckie

One thing in common … they all had something to do with the most disgraced fraudulent and corrupt Police Force and its Authority in the UK … only in the North East of England would so many people treat losers, bullies and abusers as though the were winners, when clearly they are not … a case of getting what you asked for !

Pathetic bunch of no hopers elected from the two main parties, GOD HELP THE POLICE FORCES!!!!
Good to see Co. Durham UKIP candidate get so many votes. Hope this is replicated at the proportional representation euro elections as it seem the Lid-Dem vote has collapsed.

Did I say they were? You'll find most of the MPs that did the extreme fiddling came from the red half of the commons. And one of them is named above and still has her nose in the trough.

How odd that the latest Cleveland Police and Cleveland Police Authority disclosures : details of Chief Constable Price's sacking and justice perversion charges against the authority's ex-chairman, were held back until after the poll. Nothing like democratic informed debate, is there?

Durham Chief Constable may well feel reassured by the appointment of Ron Hogg as Commissioner, but saying "He's a man I can do business with" does little to reassure me. Would you sack your best-buddy if it came to it....don't think so? Let us hope it never comes to that but please gentlemen, it is up to you both to uphold the integrity of the role and is most certainly up to you Mr Hogg to demonstrate your independence to your public

The government and the candidates can blame the low turnout on whatever they like but I believe the main reason is that currently, politics and politicians turn people off. If this government really wanted to make a success of these elections it should have banned the canditates from any political affiliation. So instead of voting for a political party we could vote for the most able candidate, regardless of their personal politics. Just look what the people of Northumbria have done. Would Vera Baird have been voted into her new position without a red rosette? It is common knowledge to all those in the Teesside area that she is unfit for public office. Politics of the right, left and everything in between have no place in the running of our police forces and those that see their new positions as an avenue to promote their political agenda should think again.
