MORE than 20 people have finished a ten-week fitness course.
Participants in the fitbug course, organised by Age UK and Darlington Borough Council’s sports development team, reported increased health benefits.
The fitbug is a pedometer which looks at both daily step and aerobic steps taken, with the support of a website where users can log their non bug steps and get advice on activities and recipes.
All participants are now using their bugs everyday and have made improvements in both their daily activity level and their diet.
Most of the group have attended weekly drop-in sessions to look at healthy eating and physical activity opportunities in Darlington.
They plan to continue once the programme has finished and take the steps to a healthier and more active life.
