FRAUD PROBE: Police have arrested five people as part of an ongoing investigation into suspected fraudulent insurance claims in Sunderland. Officers raided an accident management company in the city on Wednesday.
Three men and two women arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit fraud by false representation have all been bailed pending further enquiries.

DURHAM police dogs and handlers are at the official opening of the new Pets at Home store, at Bishop Auckland Shopping Park, County Durham, until mid-afternoon today.
The store is helping the force set up a benevolence fund for retired canine crime-fighters.

Then all eyes nationally will be on the Stadium of Light on Tuesday, when Redknapp is expected to take charge of his first QPR game - at Sunderland!
By that time Sunderland could have won two games in a row if they defeat West Brom tomorrow, which would make for a pretty interesting and intriguing night's football.

An English football fan remained in hospital today recovering from a stabbing at the hands of Italian thugs who are believed to have launched an anti-semitic attack.
Ashley Mills, 25, was in Rome to watch Tottenham Hotspur play Lazio - who have a renowned fascist following - when he and 10 other Spurs fans were ambushed by up to 50 hooligans.

TEESSIDE JOBS LOSS: Steel giant Tata is cutting 900 jobs, including 30 on Teesside, and closing 12 sites under plans to improve competitiveness, the firm announced today.
