FIVE university scholars have won awards for their academic efforts.
The Durham University students and recent graduates picked up gold medals in the cross-discipline 2012 Undergraduate Awards.
The international academic awards programme recognises top students from across the globe.
Durham University had the largest representation at the awards ceremony, held in Dublin, and the most winners. Other winners came from Cambridge, Princeton, Yale and elsewhere.
The prizes were handed out by Michael D Higgins, President of Ireland.
The Durham winners were: Alexandra Mansell, in Languages and Linguistics; Henrietta Bailey-King, in English Literature; Louise Sayers in Law; Andrew Barrett in Social Studies; and Jonathan Penny in Modern Cultural Studies.
