BOTANIST David Bellamy is to launch a campaign that aims to tackle emotional, spiritual and physical health.

Dr Bellamy will be visiting Whitby on Saturday (December 8) to launch the Festival of Future Health.

The festival has been devised by James Fearnley, from the health shop and clinic, The Dispensary in Whitby.

Its aim is to highlight how people can improve not just their physical health, but also social and cultural health.

The festival will involve a range of ten minute talks about all aspects of health from acupuncture to beekeeping, ceramics and community.

Some of those taking part will be available for one to one conversations about their particular area, including a town councillor, a therapeutic counsellor and a poet.

The academic and environmental campaigner, Dr Bellamy, will be on hand to launch the event and talk about how society’s social, economic and cultural environments are now under the same kind of pressure as the physical environment and the importance of healthy communities.

The event will take place at Whitby Coliseum Centre on Victoria Place from 10am until 5pm. The Dispensary will also launch its shop on the day.
