A public meeting for people in Delves Lane to discuss concerns about crime with police officers is being held at Helen McArdle Care Home, Greenways Court, on December 19, from 6pm-7pm. The meeting will be attended by a representative from the neighbourhood policing team and will be specific to the area. Individual policing priorities will be discussed. All members of the community are welcome.

PING PONG: The Table Tennis Club meets on Wednesday evenings in the small hall of Lanchester Community Centre from 7pm-9 pm. Two championship tables are available with coaching by qualified volunteers and special coaching sessions provided by the English Table Tennis Association. Under 16's £1, over 16's £2.

FIGHTING FIT: Kick Boxercise classes are held at the Louisa Centre in Stanley every Sunday from 10.30am-11.30am. Sessions cost £3.70. For more information call 01207 218-877.

SKATE SKILLS: Belle Vue Leisure Centre in Consett is holding a new class for people using scooters, roller blades and roller skates. Skoot and Skate is every Saturday from 12pm-1pm for young people aged four-14yrs to skate along to funky music in a friendly atmosphere. People are asked to bring their own equipment and safety gear, such as pads and helmets, to avoid disappointment. Taking part costs £2.80.

CARPET BOWLS: Over 40's carpet bowls sessions are held at the Grove Club, Moorside, near Consett, every Wednesday from 1.30pm- 3.30pm. Taking part costs £1 per session and beginners are welcome. Call 01207-280119 for details.

SOCIAL NIGHTS: The Thursday Club is an independent group for ladies of all ages to come together socially and enjoy an evening of entertainment or a day out.Members have talks, slide shows, days out to places of interest and celebratory meals as well as raising money for charity. The club meets on the third Thursday of the month at 7.45 pm in the small hall of Lanchester Community Centre.

DRIVERS NEEDED: RSVP North-East is looking for volunteer drivers for the Derwentside GP Car Scheme to cover Stanley, Consett and Annfield Plain surgeries. It involves taking patients who are unable to travel by any other means from their home to attend GP appointments.
