POLICE have renewed their appeal for information after a shooting in a pub car park.

A 47-year-old man, named locally as former pub doorman Colin Ferry, was targeted outside The Wheatsheaf, in Benton, North Tyneside, at about 5pm on Friday (DECEMBER 14).

He remains in hospital where his condition is not said to be life-threatening.

Officers are continuing inquiries into the attack and today (TUESDAY DECEMBER 18) arrested a sixth suspect as part of the investigation.

But they have repeated appeals for information from potential witnesses who were in the vicinity of the pub in late afternoon or early evening on Friday.

Two men, aged 42 and 47-year-old, who were arrested on suspicion of attempted murder have been bailed pending further inquiries.

Other men, aged 22 and 21, were arrested on suspicion of violent disorder, while a 25-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender,.

They have all also been bailed pending further inquiries.

Another 47-year-old man, who was arrested today (TUESDAY DECEMBER 18) on suspicion of attempted murder, remains in custody, helping police inquiries.

Anyone in the area at the time of the shooting or with information about it is asked to contact police on the 101 non-emergency number.
