A TEENAGE band are preparing to play their first gig after winning a competition to find young music stars in Darlington.

The Innocent Wrecks, a six piece group aged between 13 and 16, will take part in a New Years Eve concert at The Forum Music Centre, in Borough Road, in Darlington.

The performers won their place in the group in June after three music student judges watched students perform at two showcase nights.

The judges have mentored The Innocent Wrecks to perform at The Forum New Years Eve Party.

The group will play a set consisting of covers from the likes of Foo Fighters, Pink and Kelly Clarkson.

The band are Emily Fenwick, and Scarlett Fletcher (lead and backing vocals), Anna Wilson (bass and backing vocals), Dylan Graham and James Dryburgh (guitars) and Matthew Wilkinson (drums).

Darlington-based blues rock band The Tenants were also chosen in the showcase in June to perform at New Year.

They perform a mix of old school blues, through to hard rock and modern pop. The band are; Alex Porritt (guitar/vocals), Dan Millward (bass) and Ben McDermott (drums).

Headlining the event are Darlington group SKYBABIES, with local singer/songwriter Hayley McKay also performing.

Tickets are £12, to include food, drinks promotions and DJs, and are available from The Forum now on 01325-363135, and on the door on the night.

Children aged 14 to 17-years-old are welcome, but must be accompanied by an adult.
