D-day for Kids and Co nurseries

COUNCILLORS will meet this evening (Tuesday, January 8) to decide on the future of two nurseries in Darlington.
The Kids and Co nurseries at Northwood and Borough Road could shut by August, along with the Flexi Childcare Service, if councillors agree with a report recommending their closure.
The service employs 43 people and offers 180 childcare places in the town but is operating at an annual loss of £212,000.
Members of the Save Kids and Co campaign group will attend this evening’s meeting at Darlington Town Hall alongside Unison representatives to lobby councillors as they arrive and urge them to vote to keep the service running.
