A YOUTH worker is preparing for her 46th pantomime.

Kath White has been performing in the amateur shows at Oxhill Youth Club, near Stanley, County Durham, after joining as a member not long after it opened in 1962.

Now 50 years later she is getting ready for the centre’s latest production of Mother Goose.

Ms White said: “I have been in them all. I am the only person left who has there from the very beginning.”

“We started off doing it for Cancer Research and that is something that has continued.”

Mother Goose is playing at the Lamplights Arts Centre in Stanley from February 4-9 with Kath as Jake, part of a comedy duo of ‘daft lads’.

She added: “It is a lot of fun and the audience always enjoys it. It is nice to get the children involved and it is a nice thing for them to do.”

Tickets cost £6, £5 concessions, and can be booked by calling 01207-232-554.
