PLANS have been unveiled to transform a Darlington bakery into an Indian restaurant and Asian sweet shop.
The proposals would renovate the Brittons Bakers building, in Yarm Road, and include a hot food takeaway.
The plans have been submitted by Tahir Mahmood, from Birmingham, on behalf of businessman RP Singh.
They include the erection of a single storey rear extension to the rear of 24 Yarm Road, which is currently used as a garage, and the addition of a flat roof to an existing building.
Mr Mahmood said: “The property has been vacant for some time and my client is seeking to invest and create a sustainable business.”
Darlington Borough Council has sent consultation letters out to residents, who have until Tuesday, January 29, to respond to the plans.
