Groups urged to cash in on Heart of Teesdale landscape funding
1:54pm Thursday 10th January 2013 in News By Stuart Laundy, Reporter (Barnard Castle & Teesdale)
FUNDING is on offer to groups which come up with innovative small scale projects to improve Teesdale's landscape.
The Heart of Teesdale Landscape Partnership is offering to support schemes through its community initiatives fund.
The fund was launched last year and 12 groups received cash last autumn for initiatives ranging from village bulb planting and habitat management schemes to restoration projects and craft workshops.
Heart of Teesdale officials say the fund is aimed at projects of less than £10,000.
It is aimed at registered charities, not-for-profit and other groups and associations, however, applications from parish councils, schools and informal groups will be considered if they can demonstrate clear community or public benefit.
Heart of Teesdale community officer Sarah Smith said: “The fund is one of the partnership’s greatest successes.
“It has enabled a wide variety of projects to take place and really has got everybody involved. We are really looking forward to seeing how this year’s projects develop.”
The deadline for expressions of interest to the 2013 funding round is Friday, February 22.
