Proposals to build home in Parkland Drive, Darlington, passed after appeal

PLANS to convert a former electricity substation into a one bedroom home have been approved.

Darlington Borough Council rejected proposals to knock down the substation in Parkland Drive, Darlington, in May last year, after residents’ raised fears the home would damage the area’s appearance.

However, inspector Elaine Worthington, from The Planning Inspectorate, carried out a site visit and deemed the plans acceptable.

She said: “I viewed the site from a next door property, and the building would not be unduly overbearing or have such a detrimental impact.”
