Netball success for Bishop Auckland teenagers

A BISHOP Auckland school netball team is celebrating after reaching a national tournament.

The Year Ten team from Bishop Barrington School secured a place in the National Sports Colleges Netball Tournament, which will take place in London in March.

In order to reach the finals they competed against other teams from the north or England in the regional round of the Sports Colleges under 16 netball tournament.

Following the girls’ success, all eight members have secured place in county teams.

Debbie Hepple, of Bishop Barrington School, said: “The day was a huge success and thoroughly enjoyed by all who played and officiated.

“There was some tough competition on the day but the girls worked extremely well together as a team.

“Huge congratulations to them all and best of luck to them in the national round.”

Mrs Hepple is also head coach of Bishop Auckland Netball Club. Anyone wishing to get involved is invited to join in on Mondays.

• Under 11s play between 4pm and 5pm at Bishop Barrington School

• Under 14s train from 5pm to 6pm at Bishop Auckland College

• Seniors play between 6pm and 9pm at Bishop Auckland College
