SCHOOL children have been raising money to buy animals and goods for needy people in the developing world.
Pupils at St Godric’s RCVA Primary School, in Framwellgate Moor, Durham City, raised £350 for the Catholic Agency for Overseas Development (Cafod) through their Christmas nativity play.
Parents and others attending the event were asked to make a donation to the cause, with the money going to Cafod’s World Gift programme – which provides animals and goods to help people support themselves.
Cafod worker John McBride said: “The pupils met 18-year-old Abdi, from the Nairobi slums, last year, so it’s great that they were inspired to continue their support for Cafod.
“To people in the developing world these gifts aren’t luxury items – they can be the difference between life and death.”
